Tamil Nadu government Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST students studying in private Engineering,Medical,Nursing,Diploma,Teacher training,Arts and Science colleges 2014-2015

As part of the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC/ST students devised by the Central government and implemented through States, the compulsory non-refundable fee charged towards registration/enrolment, tuition, games, union and library membership, medical examination and any other fee compulsorily payable at all private higher education— is covered, apart from a host of other fees.

1.  Central and state government is offering SC/ST scholarships to all SC/ST students studying B.E/M.E/M.B.B.S/Diploma/paramedical/Nursing courses at all government and private institutions.

2.   SC/ST students studying B.A/M.A/B.Sc/M.Sc in private colleges are waived tuition fees.

3. Government will pay the fees on behalf of the students to the institution from the beginning of the academic year.

4. Eligible students are exempted from paying any fees at the time of admission. Even if the students had paid the fees for first year the fees would (Must) be refunded by the concerned institutions. 

5. Students who got admission through management quota and government quota at all private colleges are also eligible for this scholarship.


Who are eligible?

All SC/ST/Converted SC/ST Christians (students pursuing full time course) with an annual income of parents/guardian less than Rs. 2.5 lakhs are eligible for this scholarship.

How to apply?

You need not apply for this scholarship separately. The concerned institution need to implement this scheme. In short the College management should feed all details of SC/ST students admitted in their college in the online portal.

Moreover government has clearly mentioned in its GO that college management should not collect tuition fees from SC/ST students. Kindly show this to the management.

In case the college management denies the scholarship benefit please feel free to contact me through my mail id (Get it from my Profile). Let us know the phone number of the principal with college name and address. We will contact them directly in this regard.

Government has appointed monitoring committee to oversee the implementation of this scheme throughout Tamil Nadu. We are ready to help needy students through proper channel.

Even after taking these steps if the management continue to ignore your pleas you can petition the CM cell cmcell.tn.gov.in for necessary action. You have to create a login name and file a petition under social justice. You will get a petition number and you can track the status of your petition online itself.

You can seek the assistance of Coimbatore-based social movement Dalit People Association. They have been conducting seminars and conferences across the state to make the benefits of the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme reach the maximum number of Dalit students.
